APPSC Assistant Statistical Officer Recruitment 2026

The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has released Brief Notification No. 20/2026 for the direct recruitment of Assistant Statistical Officers in the A.P. Economics & Statistical Subordinate Service. A total of 196 provisional vacancies have been announced for the recruitment.

APPSC Assistant Statistical Officer Eligibility 2026

Candidates must possess the prescribed educational qualification as on the date of the Detailed Notification. The brief notification specifies the following educational qualifications.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as one of the main subjects.

Alternatively, candidates may possess a Bachelor’s Degree with:

• Mathematics as one of the main subjects, with Statistics as a paper in one, two or all three years, as applicable.
• Economics as one of the main subjects, with Statistics as a paper in one, two or all three years, as applicable.
• Commerce as one of the main subjects, with Statistics as a paper in one, two or all three years, as applicable.
• Computer Science as one of the main subjects, with Statistics as a paper in one, two or all three years, as applicable.

The degree must be from a university established or incorporated under a Central or State Act, an institution declared to be a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or a foreign university approved by the Central Government.

Important Note on Qualification

APPSC has stated that the date of the Detailed Notification will be treated as the crucial date for determining eligibility. The Detailed Notification is scheduled to be available on the Commission’s website on or before October 13, 2026.

APPSC Assistant Statistical Officer Application Dates 2026

The online application process will be conducted through the official APPSC website.

Applications must be submitted only through online mode. APPSC has advised candidates not to wait until the last date and to submit their applications well in advance to avoid technical or last-minute issues.

APPSC Assistant Statistical Officer Exam Pattern 2026

The recruitment examination will consist of a single-level examination only. APPSC has specifically stated that no Screening Test will be conducted, irrespective of the number of applications received.

The examination will be conducted in Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) mode. If the examination is conducted in multiple sessions, APPSC may adopt normalization of marks wherever considered necessary.

Written Examination Pattern

The written examination is of Degree Standard.

There will be 1/3 negative marking for every wrong answer.

The examination consists of two papers. Paper I covers General Studies and Mental Ability, while Paper II covers economics, accounting, computers and statistics-related subjects.

Paper II covers the core subject areas relevant to the Assistant Statistical Officer post.

APPSC Assistant Statistical Officer Computer Proficiency Test

The notification also includes a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).

The CPT is a practical examination covering proficiency in Office Automation using computers and associated software.

The CPT scheme is based on G.O.Ms.No.26, G.A. (Ser.B) Department, dated February 24, 2023.

CPT Syllabus

The Computer Proficiency Test covers computer fundamentals, input and output devices, RAM and ROM, operating systems, Windows, Linux/Mac basics, internet, email and World Wide Web concepts.

It also covers office applications including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint or equivalent open-source office software.
